Feeling "bored" with routine life?!

Many of us feel frequently that our life has become very routine and very boring. We are unable to figure out how to put in some excitement and enthusiasm in our lives.

In fact if you care to  think about it almost everyone's life is a big routine! If we get a heart attack its a life changing event for us but for a cardiologist "its just another case"! For a cancer patient ditto. For police only the victims and criminals faces/names change but their life is one long routine of the same old crimes! These guys hardly see any "exciting" new case/crime!

For actors/actresses the story/co actors change but their job of acting is the same! The same old "crying" sentimental scenes, so called comedy, those routine dances....everything is same.

For lawyers ditto. For Sales guys ditto. For cab/auto drivers ditto. For you and me ditto! Ditto! Ditto!

Big changes don’t normally happen frequently in anyone’s life. So the best thing to do would be to bring in few small/tiny changes ourselves!

Here are few tips to again feel “alive”. Please note that any of these actions might not make you feel very excited but only act as “supplements” so to say.

Please also keep in mind not to overdo these things meaning don’t do too many things at once. Just implement one or at the most two in a week or fortnight otherwise you will run out of ideas and find life routine and boring again!

TIPS:

Change some routine in your day – Either stop something you are doing daily for just few days or change the order of your routine. For example if you are used to having tea in the morning start having coffee or vice versa.

Change your hairstyle.

Grow or remove your mustache.

If you normally wear only full hand shirts buy a couple of half sleeve shirts and wear them and vice versa.

Grow a beard.

Start tucking in your shirt if you aren’t doing it now.

Change the route to your office if you commute by bike/car.

Chuck your bike/car for few days and commute by public transport like city bus/ metro or auto/cab,

Change your sleep time. Most of you sleep past 11 PM! Start sleeping at 10 AM.

Get up one hour earlier than your normal time.

Cultivate a new hobby. Please understand that a hobby/ passion isn’t something you do in your spare time but it’s something for which you spare time. Spend at least a couple of hours per week or a half day per month on pursuing your hobby. No. You can’t say photography is your hobby if all you do is click endless selfies!

Change the cover / case of your mobile and NOT your mobile!

Put some funny sticker/s on your bike/car.

Just go window shopping in any big mall and DON’T buy anything!  Not buying anything is very important!

Watch a movie in a language you don’t understand – Indian or foreign.

Learn how your name is written in different languages and put that in your Facebook/ Twitter profile!

Change the home/lock screen photos in your mobile frequently and don’t put your own photos!

Delete ALL the Apps you haven’t used in the last 2 months. You can always download them later on when you need any of them. Try to limit the Apps to just 3 screens of your mobile.

Relocate/ remove all the icons on your desktop. Put them in a couple of folders. Make it clutter free and very simple.

Listen to songs of other languages – Indian and foreign. African music has got good beat!

Try to go to any nearby tourist spot on a Sunday – it doesn’t matter what it is. Go alone if you want to really enjoy the trip. Or take along a couple of friends. If you like driving, like me, drive down. It feels terrific. Try to go at least once in a couple of months.

Go for a long holiday of at least 4/5 days in a year. Alone or with friends or family. Don’t carry your laptop with you!

Get a pet dog if you like them. They will make your life very exciting! They simply get excited on seeing you! If only we learn from them how to get excited for small routine things!

Rearrange the furniture in your house. Relocate the wall hangings/ calendars from one wall to another.

These are only few I could think of right away. Hope you get the drift and you can come out with your own tips!

Now go and get EXCITED "routinely"!!!
